A Florida disability lawyer recently filed a federal lawsuit in the district court for the Middle District of Florida Orlando Division against Liberty Life Assurance Company Of Boston (Liberty). The Plaintiff, Carolyn S., was employed by Liberty Mutual Insurance Company as a Senior Sales Representative. Due to her employment, she was entitled to short-term and long-term disability benefits that were provided by Liberty.

Prudential Insurance Inc. Sued By Genentech Microbiologist For Denial of Long-Term Disability Benefits Provided By ERISA

A disability lawsuit was recently filed by a California disability attorney in Federal Court against Prudential Insurance Inc. (Prudential) and Genetic Engineering Technology, Inc. The Plaintiff, William C., was employed as a microbiologist at Genentech. Due to his employment, Plaintiff was covered by Genentech’s long-term disability insurance plan, which was administered by Prudential.

Former Northwestern Mutual Insurance Agent Sues Northwestern Mutual for Denial of His Disability Benefits

A former insurance agent for the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company and his Idaho disability attorney filed a lawsuit against the insurer in Idaho Federal Court to recover his disability insurance benefits. In May 1970, Roger C. purchased a disability insurance policy from his own employer Northwestern Mutual Insurance Company (NWM) and subsequently purchased a second disability insurance policy in 1975. In addition, from 1970 until 1994 Roger C. added several life insurance policies from NWM to his portfolio of insurance coverage. And, having paid all premiums for the two (2) NWM policies as well as his other NWM life insurance policies, Roger C. rightfully expected to be fully covered by those policies should he become disabled, which he did in 2005. Unfortunately, NWM denied his claims for benefits.

Pennsylvania Disability Lawyer sues Unum following Unum Disability Application Denial

Recently, a Pennsylvania disability attorney filed a lawsuit at the District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania against the Unum Life Insurance Company of America (Unum) for violation of the provisions under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA). The legal action was to secure disability benefits under the Mercy Hospital Long Term Disability Plan which Unum was alleged to have wrongfully denied to a former nurse working at the Mercy Hospital. In Christine Leuthe vs Unum Life Insurance Company of America, the Administrator of Mercy Hospital long term disability plan, the plaintiff claimed that she is entitled to disability benefits under a disability insurance policy underwritten and administered by Unum.
